The Lumières d’Afriques exhibition, presented in 2015 in Paris at the « Théâtre National de Chaillot » and in 2016 in Abidjan in Côte d’Ivoire has been presented in Dakar at the beginning of 2017, Senegal before going to Geneva in the Palais des Nations (2017), Addis Ababa in the African Union’s headquarters (from December 2017 to February 2018) and to Darmstadt in Germany in the EUMETSAT’s headquarters.
Designed by the African artists for Development organization , the exhibition is showed from January the 14th to February the 20th, 2017 at IFAN, the « lnstitut fondamental d’Afrique noire Cheikh Anta Diop ».
This second presentation of « Lumières d’Afriques » within the African continent, place where the works of art were created, as well as the unique partners’ collaboration stressed once again AAD’s commitment to the development of the continent.
This exhibition was inaugurated under the patronage of the Minister of Energy and sustainable energy development: Monsieur Thierno Alassane SALL and the Minister of Culture and Communication Monsieur Mbagnick NDIAYE.
Many events are already planned around the exhibition; that gathered 54 artworks – paintings, photographs, installations, videos, sculptures – created by 54 contemporary African artists – one per country – around the theme “African Lights and Energies”, such as schools visits and development of a pedagogical project for the exhibition.

Created in 1936, the IFAN’s (Institut Fondamental d’Afrique Noire Cheikh Anta Diop) mission is to study and promote the sub-Saharan African culture.
