The sculpture of Beninese artist Zinkpé has been displayed in the first BBB, the library “Melchior Leridon”, situated in Agla neighbourhood in Cotonou!

This new and monumental wooden sculpture, of about 2 meters height, symbolically represents an open book. It is made of a multitude of statuette and the famous quotation from Nelson Mandela “ Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” can be read on it.

Powerful and emblematic piece of art, the book is displayed in the lobby of the library and is thus the first contact between young readers regulars to the BBB and contemporary art.

This initiative is rooted in the AAD’s belief that the engagement of contemporary African artists in support of development projects is one of the best levers of recognition and guarantee success to build the future of Africa.
