On the 20th of December 201, the first phase of Refugees on the Move workshops was completed successfully in Burkina Faso. Those workshops led by choreographer Salia Sanou and dance company CDC La Termitière took place in Saag-Nioniogo refugee camp.

As a reminder, the Refugees on the Move program uses dance as social and cultural mediation tool in the camps to reduce community violence, restore refugees’ self-esteem and to increase dialogue with the outside.

According to Salia Sanou, the restitution of the 20th of December was “”tinged with positive energy, very rich and emotionally charged “. The second phase of workshops, eagerly awaited by the refugees of Saag-nioniogo camp should begin shortly.

In Burundi, it is in another refugee camp that the workshops will start again. After two successful phases in Bwagiriza camp, it is in the camp of Gasorwe / Kinama in the province of Muyinga that Ciza Muhirwa and dancers of the Ganura, Culture and Communication association will pursue the adventure.
